Teachers and Teenagers

Teenagers at Class

Adolescence is a period characterized by significant physical and psychological changes. During this time conflicts occur at home between parents and teens as well as at school between teachers and teens, and teens with their classmates.

School constitutes a big part of teenage environment due to the amount of time they spend there. Therefore teachers can help to solve adolescent problems, address their concerns and contribute to the overall progress and wellbeing of teenagers. The assistance that teachers can offer should not however be separate from parents. For this reason parent involvement in school is necessary.

In "Teachers and Teenagers" strategies enhancing teacher efforts to encourage more parental involvement in school are analysed. Furthermore relevant studies are presented and guidance to teachers is provided. The Objective of the project Family mediation is to involve parents in school, along with teachers’ contribution, to help teens in their academic success.
